Job Purpose

Job Purpose

This role is responsible for the design, implementation, and maintenance of IBM Power Systems infrastructure, with a focus on the AIX operating system. The Server Engineer IV will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the availability, performance, and security of our business-critical systems..

Performs installation, maintenance and repairs including software, system installations and upgrades, routine automation, security maintenance, troubleshooting, training, and technical support for all users and projects of the organization.

Ensures dependable access and availability to IT systems. Troubleshoot and fix complex issues that may compromise system performance or access to an IT service. Serves as a subject matter expert.

Develops, trains, and mentors other associates on the team as needed.

Provides excellent customer support 24x7x354 in an on-call rotation for the cloud and on-premises platform. Troubleshoots complex incidents, identifies root cause, fixes, documents problems, and implements preventive measures. Serves as liaisons with internal departments, vendors and other third-party providers. Automates tasks and monitors their effectiveness.

Resolves issues other tiers of support have escalated/transferred.

Stays knowledgeable of emerging trends and industry practices. Ensures compliance with cloud, server, network and engineering standards and guidelines

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required


• Senior level SME for installation, upgrades and configuration of IBM Power Systems servers running AIX.
• Highly skilled Senior level IBM Power Systems Engineer experience.
• Extensive experience with AIX High Availability PowerHA Clustering and related tools/products.
• Experience with networking technologies that support data center and server operations including LAN/WAN/Firewall/Load Balancers/VPN technologies.
• Experience with: Windows, Linux (SUSE, RedHat); Physical Server architecture and virtualization technologies.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills, and the ability to stay focused on completing tasks and meeting goals within a fast-paced environment.
• Mastery in shell script development and scripting languages e.g.: bash, ksh, PowerShell. Automation of manual tasks.
• Knowledge of Containers Management platforms like Kubernetes, Docker, Rancher and OpenShift.
• Experience with various backup solutions and strategies for both cloud and on-premises.
• In depth knowledge of on premises and cloud business continuity, and disaster recovery strategies.
• Proficiency in MS Outlook, Excel and Word.
• Administer storage solutions including SAN and NAS, ensuring data availability and integrity.
• Monitor system performance and implement proactive measures to ensure optimal system health.
• Provide technical support and guidance to end-users, resolving issues promptly and effectively.
